Home » Objective Personality Test v0.9

This is my first Objective Personality Test. This test follows traditional scientific standards when it comes to forms and testing. I evaluate all scales and questions and improve on questions when I find that they don't work. The personality test gives you one of 512 possible personality type combinations so there is only a 0.19% chance you will get the correct result if you fill out the answers at random.

It is possible you will have a different personality type in Objective Personality than you would on the 16 Personalities test. Look at if the results and scales seem to match up with the questions and see if the result makes sense based on its own merit and definitions. This is only based on your own self-assessment and so you may end up getting a different result than you would get from Dave or Shannon. This test is not endorsed by Objective Personality, but I plan on sharing insights and information with them. Check out Objective Personality to learn more about their work!

Help me test out the questions and let me know your thoughts on your results and questions in the comments below! If you want to support the personality test, feel free to share it online or become a patron here.

Learn more!

I am doing a weekly series on Objective Personality and will be reviewing all their ideas!

This was a really difficult personality test to build - the most difficult one I have ever made. Let me know what you think about it!

  1. I’ve been typed as an MBTI INTJ, which goes reasonably well with my job as a software engineer, strong preference for social introversion, and my lifelong addiction to personal perfectionism. More lately I’ve been thinking I might actually be ENTJ as I have the “gift of snap decisions”, chaos doesn’t bother me too much, I end up leading most projects I’m involved with, and no one has ever accused me of being too considerate of other people’s feelings. My lack of empathy along with extreme powers of concentration make me borderline Asperger’s. Somehow this test says I’m an an INFJ but my Feeling was rated lower than Thinking, so that seems odd.

I also don’t understand the animals thing. It says sleep/consume. In reality, I do read quite a bit, but I write even more. Technical writing is one of my strengths at work and something I spend much of my time on. If I were guessing based on the descriptions, blast seems pretty high in reality and consume might be second. Neither sleep nor play resonate much, but I may not understand what those labels really mean.

  2. Your criticism of OP led me here.

I frikn LOVE (& respect) that you can criticize something and still support it based on its worth.

Regarding the results everyone's (including myself) getting:

The patterns I'm seeing in the comment section, at least for me, is making an even stronger case for OP's pitch.

    For example:

Someone in here said Dave's an ENFP.

Funny, because in his earliest videos (in the re-boot stage) Dave has breeched the topic of looking like a chatty eSfp.

But that dude's for sure an INTJ.

What I find even more interesting, is that there are people who think they are ENFP's, but they are INTJ's.
    I call them "dark" ENFPs.

I think Heidi Priebe (spelling?) is one of those.

Same with that one youtube female duo who used to do skits...
One was a supposed INTJ (I think she's intP), and the other, supposedly an ENFP (I think she's a Dave Powers type'a INTJ).

Just an observation in support of my own position that Dave Powers is definitely an INTJ.

    As a side note...

He has the quintessential INxJ "Ni Eyes."

    Think:
    Ayn Rand...
    Stanley Kubrik..
    Michael Pierce (OG YT'er)...
    Etc.

Frank James tried to make himself look like he has those eyes (in one of his YT video thumbnails).
But upon objective examination, one can easily discern that it's contrived.

    I dunno..
It's hard for me to explain...

The best I can do is say that the former looks detached and through you.

Whereas the latter, looks pouty & through their own feelings.

I call FJ's glare "Fi eyes."

    Well anyhow...

    Enough about that.

    LOL.

    I like(d) your measurement a lot.

While I've gotten 3 different 4 letter scores (ESFP, ENTJ, & ESTJ), I've gotten the same animals every time (BSPC).

At the end of the day (& as I mentioned at the onset), this measurement makes a strong case for their system.
As, the pattern of results (conveyed in the comment section) is everything Dave & Shannon talk about...
And I'm not even sure you intended to display that fact.

And so I'm just all like:

    EXACTLY!

    And that is all.

    Bye Felicia!
    😁

  3. I got "FF--SCBP" (no 4-letter code).
    Higher Introversion (14.875)
    Higher iNtuition (6.125)
    Higher Feeling (5.625)
    Higher Perceiving (11.375)

    Ne: 8.75
    Se: 5.25
    Ti: 4.625
    Si: -17.5
    Ni: -5.25
    Fi: -4.625
    Fe: -4.625
    Te: -17.5625

    C/B: 11.375
    S/P: 14.875

Like the other person with no 4-letter code, I also had weird scales (like, my top 3 function bars were Ne, Te, and Ti, even though I had Feeling over Thinking, and Te was "-17".)

I was wondering about Energy and Control. Assuming they aren't already doing that, I think that Energy could be changed to focus on De/Di, while Control could be Oe/Oi.
Then, you could use the higher of the two as the first function (as far as numbers), lower of the two as the second function, and then get the first animal from that. Then, you can layer the Perception and Discernment over that. Figuring out the animals may be a little harder since the first animal isn't necessarily the opposite of the last. (Ex: Lead consume doesn't mean blast last. Blast can be third.)

I know figuring out the test is hard, though, so I hope you don't take the idea as deep criticism. I can imagine how I'd code it in PHP, but not what questions I would ask.

  4. So I did 2 times your test on different days, it has the same problem (It's stacks M sleeps as to high and break the whole thing).

    First got FM Ti/Si SBCP
Now got MF--SCBP - From reading the stats (MF Ni/Ti SBCP)

    Current selftyping MM Ne/Ti CSBP

Others with high sleep that I saw having the same problem on facebook group:

"Official from D&S MF NeFi CSBP
This test: FM ENFJ Ti/Si SCBP "

  5. I think this is quite accurate. I am not sure of my OP type but the animals seem consistent with what I would assess myself as after watching their videos. I generally score as INFP in MBTI, INFj in Socionics, Enneagram 5w4.

  6. First, thank you so much for putting this together and for putting so much thought and consideration into the wording of the questions and mapping them to the “logic” baked into the OP system.
This must have been quite an undertaking & there are bound to be some bugs but I’m still thoroughly impressed with what you’ve done so far (& will be sure to donate to your patreon on my next payday!)

That said, I have a couple questions about my text results (MM--BPSC) & the info displayed based on my submissions:

    1. Other commenters seem to have received a 4-letter type (e.g., “ENFJ”) but I didn’t. Was this due my odd submissions or did you decide to limit the results to only return the modalities & animals?

    2. The green bars for the animals didn’t match the text results. When these mismatches occur, should we trust the green bars or the text results?

    3. Your note suggests editing the sliders to see how they affect the results, but when I do, the results never seem to change. Is this user error on my part?

  7. Got -INFJ-Ni/Ti-SCBP. I'm self typed (best guess) an INFJ in MBTI, and 9w8 in enneagram. I'm not familiar with OPS but I will say that your questions are a bit flawed in their wording. There seems to be a Fi bias, or at least a feeling bias.

I tried to do my best to take the questions at face value, but this led to me answering more towards the middle a lot of the time (Fe user not 100% knowing what he enjoys lol). I'd either base the wording of the questions on what people -tend- to do most of the time (I ended up having to default to this a lot, but the emotional language was enough to make me question my answers more than I should have) or add a set of questions that account for this. Maybe what a person tends to do vs what they prefer? I'm pretty sure I only got INFJ because I have a bad habit of auto-piloting intuition to manipulate tests and get the result I 'want' (I test EII on socionics when I know I'm an IEI purely because I wish I was an EII, here I got INFJ because I 'want' your test to be accurate and afaik I'm an INFJ in MBTI, ect).

  8. My Myers Briggs is ENTP, my OP is M F INFJ Ni/Ti CSPB.

This definitely explains why Dave, who appears ENFP, can say he’s an INTJ.

I wonder how much of his theories are real observations or just a convoluted way for him to be the persona he wants to be.

I watched him for a while, but his narcissism drove me nuts.

  9. Retook the test. More errors. How does an Ni user ISTP use Te more than Ti? This is just stupid. I wanna give it a chance but it's just so flawed. The questioms need to be rephrased.

  10. This is just totally wroNg. I'm an N type and an introvert. Why am I typed as ESTP? Your questions need improvement. Instead of asking people if they "enjoy" doing things, which basically mean appealing to their emotions, you should ask them what they usually do. It needs more logic and specification.

  11. I am esfp with no doubts. I got FFESFP, so i guess FF ESFP? So why does it says Ne/FeCSPB after that? Ne/Fe is entp. On the scales I got high Se. But I got higher J than P!

  12. I really thought I had
Ne Fe TI Si or ENTP jumper
FE NE SI TI or ESFJ jumper

But this says NITI infj I don't even know to Ni, ai have been trying to work on my Si and TI so that my be why I got this answers Ne plus Si made NI. Something that I am sure of is that I am a jumper.

  13. My selftype so far is MF ISFP CSP(B) and I got FF ESTP.. Although I scored high in Feeling and very low in Thinking, and got Fi over Fe. Also got Ne over Ni which is crazy, as I feel I have zero Ne. The animals where all right! The function stack I got was Ne,Fi,Ni/Se, Fe, Ti, Te which seems ok except from the Ne.. (Numbers were missing, I just looked at the bars) The final result ESTP seems odd regarding the above?

  14. Sadly, the mail doesn't contain the actual result, only the answers - which would be really cool with the result but is quite useless without.
Also, it just told me I was an INFJ Jumper with Ti/Si, but INFJs don't even have Si in their 4 main functions. Is this intentional?

  15. Watch out with negative questions like "I don't like XYZ", They can be confusing with the scale.

Watch out with double questions like "I like sports and games". Well I hate sports, but love games. Now what?

  16. This test gave me MM ENFJ Fi-Si CSPB. Fi-Si shouldn't be possible? Unless this test somehow implicates shadow functions? Animals seem pretty decent.

  17. Excellent!

There is something slightly off in the Algorithm. The Tab gave me FF TiSe. The bar graph explanations gave me M Se and tied M and F De…

Most importantly, I AM MM TiSe, so technically, other than the slight glitch in the algorithm, your test got my exact 512 type!!!

  18. I’m an INFP but got INFJ here. I’ve been typed INFJ once before though. Is it because I slid the liking order and stability scales into the 70s? I hate chaos and like my peace and quiet and will actually prefer that things be done in an orderly manner. But I’m not an organized person. That and the ADD convinces me that I’m not INFJ. So I’ll look into this type and see if I can understand it better.
I like the questions and the shortness of the test.

  19. Thanks so much for creating this test. I know that the Objective Personality community has been waiting a long time for something like this.

I do think there should be a disclaimer that the test is based on your own self-reporting and will likely be very different than your official OPS type, since the OPS method is to have 2 or more people typing you separately and hopefully coming to the same type.

My official OPS typing from Dave and Shan is MF SiTe BP/S(C). On this test it says my personality type is: FF ISFP Fi/Si SCBP. But then the scores on the bar graphs contradicted that, so I'm a bit confused.

According to the bar graphs, I scored higher on M-De and M-sensory, so shouldn't I be MM, not FF?

I also scored I, S, T, and P for letter dichotomies, but it reported my type as ISFP.

My top 3 cognitive functions were: Ni, Ti, and Fi, yet it gave me Si as a savior function?

If Ni was supposedly my strongest cognitive function on this test, why is that not indicated in my full OPS type?

Also I noticed there was no Single observer / Single decider scale. However, I wonder if observer/decider is related to how you are defining judging/perceiving? All IxxJ and ExxP types are called single observers and their leading cognitive function is a perceiving one (Ni, Ne, Si or Se) while all IxxP and ExxJ types are called single deciders and their leading cognitive function is a judging one (Ti, Te, Fi or Fe)

I'm not surprised that I scored a different type on this test vs. my official type, but I wish my test result was presented a bit more clearly without contradictions.

  20. Good stuff. Some of the questions are a bit vague though. It should be pretty clear either this or that. Some of them also had me thinking "well doesn't everyone?" -- for example, "you enjoy peaceful and relaxing environments".

Glad you're doing this though, look forward to seeing the final result!

I got ENFJ, then ENFP -- never mistook myself as a Feeler, and pretty much everyone who knows me would agree lol. I think

  21. F M I N F J Ni/Ti SCBP

Interesting. The Ni really surprises me. Really, really, really surprises me. On MBTI tests, I test very high for Ne.

Most people find my onslaught of ideas and random making of connections overwhelming, amusing, intriguing and sometimes annoying.

However, this does explain why Dave presents as an ENFP if you look at him through the lens of MBTI, but he says he is “INTJ”. It also explains why a system with 512 different types appears as Ne finding and exploring new ideas rather than Ni narrowing down to a simpler concept.

I still think it’s a bit convoluted, but it could be due to lack of understanding on my part.

However, every time someone tries to explain an aspect through the lens of OPT, it changes… I asked about the Ni looking like Ne and was told it was due to blast, on another occasion I was told it was due to Se, and another because it was masculine. Which is it? Is it all of them? Only one or two? If only one or two, which? I’m having a hard time building a framework. Either there are too many holes, or the explanations are varied and the understanding unclear.

If the latter….that doesn’t make me comfortable with Dave and his method of dispensing information. Creating a fog over a system so that you are the only source of information….red flag.

  22. I'm definitely an ENTP but this test had me (with small answer shifts) going from ISTP to INTP to ENTJ. The really distorted one seemed to be how strong my judging function came out. Maybe this is a result of my age? (I'm in my 50s.) I find as I get older I see the value of being decisive and more assertive about my opinions, although I also have greater awareness of nuances. A lot of the questions at the beginning of the test were hard to answer because they seemed to be so variable dependent on context

  23. I think the question pertaining to "recipe than experiment" is ambiguous as both require a protocol or steps to follow.

  24. Hi Erik,

I'm an ENFP and have 0 doubts, this seemed to make me J instead. Just providing this for your review.
    Results:
    F
    F
    E
    N
    F
    J
    Fe/Se
    PCBS

As you are looking at different systems, though it isn't a system, I suggest you check out CognitiveTypes YouTube. Watch the 3 most recent videos first.
While I agree type is something everyone should understand for themselves, CognitiveType looks like they will be able to finally prove Jung's work. I just slightly worry what the next Facebook will do with this as a little video and with machine learning it should be trivial for computers to start reliability typing people.

    Thanks,
    Rich

  25. Couple of comments about questions which make answering problematic - 1) "enjoys chaos and changes" - it's possible to enjoy change but not chaos, 2)"I enjoy connecting with others" - a bit open to interpretation, depends on who you're connecting with, in what situation and on what level and type of connection.

  26. Why is newsletter mandatory? The various categories need a little bit more information. There seems to be some odditys with the numbers under the bars my extroverted intuition was hi on the bar yet the number was 0.
Fun little test and the sliding bars are great and easy to use.

  27. Hi Erik,

It's the first time I've come across the Objective Personality test. I get INFP on most of personality assessments, including your test, and here I got ''F F I N F P Fi/Ni'', so no surprise, although it's quite intriguing that I got Ni over Ne, not sure what determines this in the test - maybe my preference for stability over chaos? I would have to experiment and take it again to find out. 🙂 All in all, I'm not a fan of such ''mathematical'' assessments with scales etc. My favorite test is actually the one CS Joseph created simply because it's so descriptive, with lots of information and examples that make you reflect on yourself a bit more. I must give it to him, though I disagree with many things he says and don't like the way he behaves or how he speaks to people.

    Cheers

    Cheers
