Powers

Powers are gifts and abilities that combine two cognitive functions towards one core task. I have set out to investigate all powers, but there are many, and there’s a lot yet to learn. Feel free to share your experiences and to help me find the right terms and definitions for each trait! 

Healing powers

These are the abilities that give us an understanding and awareness of things and that help us heal and put things right. The Healer Archetype.

Empathy

Empathy is enhanced in unusually sensitive types. It is the ability to see another persons perspective and experience from the other persons viewpoint.

Introverted intuition and introverted feeling

Compassion

Compassion is enhanced in affectionate types. It requires you to care for and transform someone else’s experience. It allows you to see how to change someone’s situation in a positive way. 

Extraverted intuition and extraverted feeling

Tenderness

Guidance is the strongest gift of moderate and understanding types. It’s listening to and recognising who someone is and what kind of people they are. What they like to eat, what colours they like, what kind of clothes they like to wear. 

Introverted sensing and introverted feeling

Sympathy

Sympathy is the ability to show appreciation and love to someone else when they are going through a difficult situation, while making them accept the situation they are in and their circumstances.

Extraverted sensing and extraverted feeling

Knowledge

This is the ability to study and to memorise things about something and how it works and to use that information to put things back together if broken.

Introverted sensing and introverted thinking

Respect

This is the power to establish how something is currently working and to make sure it keeps working that way. To show respect to someone for who they are and what they do. 

Extraverted sensing and extraverted thinking

Clarity

This is the ability to speculate and theorise on how something works or could work better and how to improve it in some way.

Introverted intuition and introverted thinking

Research

This is the ability to experiment on and to see how something could change or how something could work better.

Vision

One way of exploring the world is through formulating a vision or envisioning how something is and where it is going. 

Intuitive judging and introverted intuition

Transformation

This is the ability to move or turn a situation towards a new direction. To help people navigate towards an unknown destination and to take people forward.

Philosophy

The ability to question and to see things from any perspective, to see different perspectives and to twist and turn things to gain a deeper understanding.

Adaptation

This is the ability to intercept change and to adapt a situation in the way you want it. To see how you want something to be and to adjust it accordingly.

Tinkering

With this ability, we can remember how something used to work or how something looks and to fine-tune something to look the way you want.

Gathering

Gathering gives you the ability to observe what is available and how to attain it and to put it to good practice.

The ability to make note of what resources you have and what you know and how to conserve and use this information to your advantage.

Organisation is your ability to put your environment in order by using whatever you have available.

These powers are what we use to give and care for someone. These powers are the strongest in The Giver Archetype.

Counselling

Nurturing

To listen to and to help someone process through and understand their experience.

Speech

To give a person a rousing speech that will help them move forward and to keep going in life.

To help a person define their experience and situation and to help them put terms and words on what they are feeling.

Directing

Being able to direct and manage and use material resources to achieve various results. Here, to set goals and standards for people.

Finding a way to observe who is currently in power or who owns what, and how you can give power or material resources to people around you.

Planning

To see what steps a person needs to take to achieve what they want. To put together a plan a person can follow to become more successful.

Analysing

To give a detailed analysis of what problems and mistakes a person has made and to show them what they need to change to do better at it.
