ESTJ Personality Description
ESTJs are naturally talented at everything they do. They appear composed and confident in most situations and environments, as if they have done it before. They are productive and have strong discipline and self-control. They apply and follow rules and make their own rules depending on their goals and values. They like to set a schedule for themselves and to organise their time and work flow.
ESTJs perform at their best when they are given space to express themselves and when you give them attention and listen to them carefully. They also enjoy when other people can evaluate their actions critically and let them know how to improve and what things they can do better. You will find that ESTJs appreciate and respond well to trading and negotiating, and tests and diagnostics. ESTJs like being evaluated and like to argue with other people. Ideally, they also enjoy being given flexibility and room to adjust and organize.
ESTJs have practical interests and prefer working with concrete and tangible projects with a visible or well defined reward. Ideally, they want to set a roadmap for things and work on direct improvements and on expanding on established routines and systems. Extroverted Sensing gives a tremendous concentration and an interest in our environment and in the events and experiences around us. Extroverted sensors are attentive and perceptive types who are always actively observing their surroundings. They like to learn about the things that happen around them, who they met, what they look like, what stores are around. The extroverted sensor usually knows the best place to grab a beer, to go out, or the most beautiful park. They need experience and want to have been “where things happen”.
Extraverted thinking is a process associated with studying our environment objectively and looking at it roughly and determining what seems to work and how to get the best results from an experience. Extroverted thinking is pragmatic and focuses on what rewards and obstacles are present in its environment. It focuses on developing skills and influencing the world around it. It likes to learn and gain strength so that it can respond better to the demands of the world around it.
This decision making process is used to set goals and to think about what you want and how to obtain it. It can be used to go over resources you have and how to use them. It can be used to come up with and plan a project or a strategy to solve a set of problems. I call it the Architect because of how it designs and draws up a goal in a logical and structured manner.
Sensing Judging is a routine navigation process associated with thinking about how to arrange our environment. It shows you how to organize your life. It helps us think about what is happening from day to day, helping us see that there is an order to the chaos that is life. I call it The Host process because it creates events and situations and meetings and arranges our situation. This means giving ordinary events names, definitions and boundaries.
